Airtel and Vodafone Flavors

The Godfather of mobile phones finally gets to peek out its box after reaching the shores of India. Expect long lines of gadget devotees outside Bharati Airtel and Vodafone stores today.

The iPhone 3G made a big splash in the U.S and some parts of Europe when it launched a few weeks ago. Now Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ new forbidden fruit is set to conquer Asia.

Airtel and Vodafone will sell the iPhone 3G in India from Aug. 22 at a starting price of $715. The 8GB iPhone 3G will be available for Rs 31,000 and the 16GB version for Rs 36,100. But that's including the connection charges. The handset alone costs Rs 13,000.

This tech candy will be available in two flavors – black and white. Although 30 grands for a mobile phone may seem a little steep for Indian consumers, the iPhone 3G is a lifestyle product mainly aimed at bigger wallets.

Airtel and Vodafone have priced the iPhone at levels similar to business mobile phones like the Blackberry. So if you're thinking of owning one, we suggest you head to the nearest Airtel or Vodafone store asap, for stocks are bound to dry very soon.

Hi all

So, finally comapny understood mindset and problem of common man of not want to spend such a big amount of Rs. 31000/36000 to buy an iphone and made it available through EMI with tying up with few banks. I saw this info on iphone section of airtel site.
