Mumbai Mumbai, earlier known as Bombay, is the largest city in India and the capital of Maharashtra state. Mumbai's nature as the most eclectic and cosmopolitan Indian city is symbolized in the presence of Bollywood within the city. It is the financial capital of India and boasts a slew of Education institutes like the IIT.

Compared to the rest of the country, attitudes are quite liberal. The best time to visit is during the winter between November and February
